Does Ring Work With Google Home

The ring is a home security system that allows you to monitor your home and family while you are away. It works with your smartphone and connects to Wi-Fi to stream live video of your home to the Ring app on your phone. The app will then alert you if it detects motion or an open door or window.

Ring operates on the Amazon Echo platform and uses Alexa as its voice assistant. If you have an Amazon Echo device (such as the Echo Dot) or a newer model Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa built-in, then you can use Ring with those devices too.

The ring can be compatible with Google, but it has several limitations. For one, Ring is the competitor of Google’s Product, Google Nest.

So, what can you do with Ring and Google Assistant?

Add Your Ring Doorbell to Your Google Home

When your Ring doorbell detects motion, it will sound an alert and send a message to your Google Home. You can choose to speak with the doorbell or have Google Assistant respond.

The process is pretty simple:

Step 1: From the Google Home app, tap on the Home control panel and select “Add a device” from the menu.

Step 2: From the Google Home app, tap on “More” and then “Settings” from the menu. Select “Notifications” from the list of options.

Step 3: From this screen, tap on “Add a device” in the top right corner of the screen. Follow steps 1-4 for adding your Ring doorbell. The setup process is pretty straightforward. Once you complete this step, you will see a message at the top of your screen that says “Ring Devices added successfully!”

When you are finished with all of these steps, your Ring doorbell will be connected to your Google Home devices! When you are finished with all of these steps, your Ring doorbell will be connected to your Google Home devices!

Stream Ring’s Video Footage on Google TV

It’s also possible to connect Ring to Google TV and stream video footage on your TV. This is possible because Google Assistant can talk back to your Ring camera.

So, you can say things like “Show me the front door” or “Play my last birthday video.” And Google Assistant will do just that. The benefit here is that it’s a more hands-free way of controlling your Ring security system.

You can also ask for specific clips from your timeline, but I’ve found that voice commands are hit or miss in this regard. For example, if you say “Play last night’s clip,” then it will play the last clip from your timeline — but not necessarily the one you asked for.

If you want to play a specific clip, then you have to type in the video URL manually. But again, this requires an extra step of navigating through a list of URLs stored on your phone — which isn’t as easy as just talking directly to Google Assistant or Ring’s assistant app.

Set Up Ring Doorbell’s Name

Ring’s Name is the name of the device which is displayed on your phone. You can change it, but we recommend keeping it default so that you can easily recognize the device if you are in front of your house.

If you want to set up Ring Doorbell’s Name, then follow these steps:  Go to Google Home app > Tap on Settings (three dots) > Tap on Device Settings > Tap on Set Up > Tap on Ring Doorbell Name. You will be asked to select a name for your device and then you will be able to set up a new one.

If you want to change your Ring Doorbell’s Name, then go back to Device Settings > Tap on Set Up > Tap on Ring Doorbell Name. You will be asked to select a name for your device and then you will be able to set up a new one.
