Is your washing machine creating a problem? Do you find that your washer is not filling? Is no water coming out of the valve? If yes, then there is a need to inspect your machine to avoid any further issues. Having no water filling issue is not as severe as sometimes simple cleaning of hose or valves can help you to get rid of the problem. In case if it does not work, then have a look on step by step guide for inspecting your washer and repairing it by yourself. If there is an additional repair required, then you can call the expert to fix the washers.

Before taking the steps for checking your machine, you should know the assembly design. It will help you with the easy opening of the machine and understand the problem.

Machine Water Supply Assembly

The machine is connected with the water supply by means of fill hoses. At the end of the hose, the wire or plastic mesh is attached to filter the water. The hose is about 4 to 5 feet in length. Through the mesh, the hose is connected with faucet. The mesh also prevents sediments from entering the machine.

There is a water inlet valve that supplies hot and cold water for washing and rinsing. It contains the two valves that control hot or cold-water supply. There is present the timer that controls the temperature and pressure of the wart. You can operate through the temperature/cycle selector and water/pressure switch.

It is the design of a machine that controls water flow. If any problem occurs in these parts, your machine fails to fill water. So, to resolve the issue, look at the steps that you should take and get rid of the problem.

Step 1: Hose Inspection

To check the hose, first pull out the washer. Turn on the faucets to see the water is entering from the main supply. In case if the water is not coming, it means the hose that is connected with tap has the blockage that prevents in filling of the machine. If there is no blockage, now remove the hose from the connector and examine the mesh. Sometimes the dust particles or sediments clog the mesh. These block the holes, thus prevent water from entering inside the machine. You can use the brush to rub on the mesh to clean it.

Third, thing is that hose may be kinked, and you can straight it to allow the continuous passage of the water. Sometimes, the hose gets damaged. In that case, replace the hose to get back water filling functionality.

If after examination, hose assembly is ok and you see no water passage trouble there, then it means some other parts have a problem.

Step 2 – Inspection Of Water Level Switch

Another reason that leads to failure of machine filling is because of a defect in the water level switch. To inspect this part, you have to locate the control panel. Switch off the machine from the main power to avoid the electric shock. On opening, you will find a clear tube. Use a volt ohmmeter to test the current. Now set the RX1 for checking of terminals and make all possible pairing of probes. On adjustment, one pair will give zero reading while others have infinity. If you didn’t get the reading change the water level switch.

Note: If you are confused about opening your machine, then take services and avoid self-repairing as it may be dangerous.

Step 3 – Filter Inspection

In the water inlet valve, there are present filters. Usually, they get clogged with dust and prevent water passage. If you don’t find any issue of switch and hose assembly, remove the hoses from the machine’s backside. You will see these filters, clean them, reconnect the hose and check again.

Step 4 – Water Inlet Valve Inspection

If your filters, switch, and hose assembly is clear, now come towards the water inlet valve. It is a double solenoid valve where the hot water is connected on one side, and there is a connection of cold water to another side. The solenoid coil controls the valve. Check either it is ok or damaged. Replace the valve and set the water level switch to check the machine functioning.

Step 5 – Pressure Chamber Inspection

The pressure chamber is part that ensures the release of the air and maintains water flow. The blockage of the tube can cause trapping of air, thus, result in the prevention of water flow. Check out is the tube is functional. If not then clean it or replace it to get proper water filling function.

Step 6 – House Plumbing Inspection

If all the parts are functioning correctly, the last thing that is creating a problem in the house plumbing problem. You have to call the plumber so that he can examine why the level is less, which results in no or slow filling of the machine.

To check the machine, open parts step by step. Don’t open the machine once as you may get confused, and rather solving problems, you get a messy issue. If you don’t have know how to handle the parts of the machine, then call the plumber to examine the machine and sort it out.

FAQs

What are the basic parts of the machine that control water flow?

Hose assembly, pressure chamber, water inlet valve, water level switch, and filters play a part in providing fast filling of water. If anyone of these gets damaged, the machine fails to fill water.

What is the procedure to test the water inlet valve?

To test your machine, use the ohm-volt meter. Now set it to RX1 and touch the probes. Set it in the way that one pair gives a zero reading while others give an infinity evading. Otherwise, check the machine manually to check the reading as each machine is set to have their reading. If you don’t get the required value, then it means there is a need to replace the water level switch.

What is the pressure chamber?

The pressure chamber maintains the airflow for the quick release of water. If it gets blocked and vacuum is created, then it prevents water flow. So, to ensure water flow, no blockage must occur in it.

What is the use of mesh between hose and faucet?

The mesh between hose and faucet blocks the sediments moving inside the machine. It prevents dust from entering the machine.
