How To Turn Off Closed Captioning On Netflix Smart TV

The Difference of Subtitles and Closed Captions

Quite often people confuse the subtitles with closed captions. Close captions show the exact text that appears after the dialogues are finished in the movie. These are often in the exact language as the audio. Subtitles are different. They are the text version of what is said in the original audio file, but that is usually in a different language.

For a video that has many dialogues in English but the text at the bottom of the movie is also in English, then those are known as ‘Close Captions’. When the text is shown in another language, then it’s called ‘Subtitle’.

When to Turn Off Closed Caption on Netflix

Many reasons exist why you want to hide the audio description from a video. It is very distracting to see text continually appear on your screen in addition to the main audio and video, even if the audio is perfectly legible.

Our attention drifts away from what is being shown on the screen, we are constantly scrolling down to read the text, and can’t keep up with reading the text. It is very irritating when movies move quickly between scenes and if you cannot read the text. You might also want it to be disabled while you are looking at a video for this or for any reason that you like.
